Timeline of the set-up
With Adloop Attribution
The set-up of the Adloop Tracking & Attribution consists of several steps, that must all be completed :
Installing the Adloop script on your website
Putting in place the tracking templates for the designated data-sources
Creating and setting up the Adloop Tracking & Attribution data-sources in the platform
Settings creation in the Adloop platform
The Adloop Script and the Tracking Templates can and should be started simultaneously as not to loose any time!
We can retrieve complete data from the day where the script and the tracking templates steps are completed
A. Adloop Script
The Adloop Script is just a JS that you must trigger on every page of your website, before the pageview is triggered.
This can go fast if you are hands-on with your Analytics source and if you can publish scripts rather quickly. It can take longer if you must go through a full IT process or if an agency is involved in the process.
Once the script is published, a data collection is needed to check if everything is triggered correctly and if the data collection is good.
In our experience, this takes between 1 day (if you can publish the script immediately and if your Analytics set-up is simple and correct from the beginning) up to 1 month (if partners are involved or if your Analytics set-up is wrong to begin with, and some issues need troubleshooting even before talking about implementing Adloop).
It’s important to remember that Adloop will exploit your Analytics set-up, not correct any issue that you might have undergoing with your Analytics.
B. Tracking Templates
Tracking Templates must be set-up for the following data-sources:
Google
Bing
Meta
Snap
Affilae
Awin
Effinity
Kwanko
Rakuten
Tradedoubler
Google Campaign Manager
DV360 (does not work for YouTube and Native placements)
Platform 161
Hawk
Weborama
Criteo
For Google Ads, the tracking templates can be set-up in one second when adding the data-sources on Adloop.
For the other, the process is still manual, for now. We are under process of developping the Automatic Tracking Templates feature for other data-sources, starting with Meta.
In our experience, it can from as little as 5 minutes to one hour per account for each data-source, depending if the tracking templates can be applied on an account level or if they have to be put on each campaign / ad.
C. Set-up Adloop Tracking and Attribution data-source
Before creating the Adloop data-source, you’ll need to create your Analytics data-source, this should take no more than 30 minutes, if you need time to check which events you’d like to import in Adloop and if they are firing correctly in your Analytics.
Then, the whole process of creating the Adloop source is very easy, you’ll be done with this within 5 minutes.
D. Other data-sources & Matching (optional)
You’ll also need to add your advertising data-sources, like Google Ads or Meta. This should take 5 minutes per data-source.
For data-sources without API or custom channels, as well as organic, you might want to create additional matching to organize all of your data.
For setting up channel level matching rules, count one hour total.
For setting more detailed rules (campaign level), count several hours total, also depending on your existing tracking quality and consistency as well as the number of campaigns you have going currently.
In summary, you should count a couple of weeks in total to install Adloop and to start collecting precious data!
To start running analysis, we recommend at the very minimum 15 days of complete and accurate Adloop Attribution data-collection.
Of course, this also depends on your attribution window. If it is 30 days, you’ll start to have full paths, after 30 days. If it is set at 90 days, you’ll start to have full paths after 90 days.
Without Adloop Attribution
In that case, the set-up is much faster. You can start using Adloop immediately after importing your Advertising and Analytics data-sources.
If you want to set-up some matching rules between your Advertising and Analytics data-source to have further analysis, count from one to several hours, depending on your number of data-sources and the details of your matching rules.
For setting up channel level matching rules, count one hour total.
For setting more detailed rules (campaign level), count several hours total, also depending on your existing tracking quality and consistency as well as the number of campaigns you have going currently.
