Step 1 - Analytics source

Choose a source

Please select the Analytics data-source that you will use for the attribution set-up.

If you haven’t added your Analytics data-source yet, please do so before going further.

Set-up the custom dimensions

  • Go to "Configure"

  • Go to "Custom Definitions"

  • Create 2 custom dimensions dedicated to Adloop:

    • The first one:

      • Click on "Create custom dimensions"

      • Name it Adloop Click 1

      • Select "Event" as scope

      • Event parameter: adloop_click_1

    • The second one:

      • Click on "Create custom dimensions"

      • Name it Adloop Click 1 Meta

      • Select "Event" as scope

      • Event parameter: adloop_click_1_meta

Note : the meta name does not refer to the Meta group (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp). You don’t need to create additional custom dimensions like adloop_click_1_google or adloop_click_1_tiktok.

Β

Create two custom dimensions adl1 and adl1_meta

Type: String

The dimension does not contain personal data

Note : the meta name does not refer to the Meta group (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp). You don’t need to create additional custom dimensions like adl1_google or adl1_tiktok.

Custom dimension choice

Now, please fill in the first custom dimension you created. Type adl in the search bar and select:

  • Adloop_click_1 if you are using a GA4 data-source

  • Adl1 if you are using a Piano data-source

Note : it is absolutely normal that you can put only one custom dimension in this step and that you can’t add the meta custom dimension previously created.

Subdomains and internal traffic

Indicate your website domain in the field (mydomain.com).

By default, all subdomains (subdomain.mydomain.com) will be considered as internal traffic.

If you want to consider specific subdomain(s) as refferer, untick the box and indicate the subdomain you want to consider as referrers:

Β

Payment system exclusion

Indicate here the referrers you want to exclude from the tracking.

It is important especially to exclude from the tracking payment systems ; otherwise, they will be considered as hits and conversions will be attributed to the payment systems. This will obviously affect data collection.

Β

As a rule of thumb, you can replicate in Adloop the list of excluded referrers you’ll find in your Analytics platform.

In GA4, this list can be found under Data Streams > Configure Tag settings > All settings > List unwanted referrals
